The Five Simple Steps of Website Design

The five simple steps of web design can be challenging. Especially if you don’t’ know anything about the back end of web design. If just wrapping your head around html coding and everything that goes along with it seems impossible, have no fear because there are simpler ways to design a website. You don’t have to be a coding genius to design a great looking website design that attracts lots of people. You can do it on your own from home without any special tools. All it takes to design a website is 5 simple steps.

Here are the 5 simple steps to design a website:

Consider website hosting and content management sites.

If you don’t know how to code, you will need to consider web hosting and content management sites. Content management sites help you develop your website easily by letting you pick and choose your website elements. These websites can make designing a website ten times easier because they lay the steps and elements out for you. Choosing the right host site is important as well because it can have an effect on your website as well.

Pick a website theme.

Your website design theme needs to be consistent with your product, brand, or personality. Picking your theme includes deciding on website colors and fonts. Make sure each item represents your website in the best possible way. Some content management sites have a whole host of templates to help you make sure all elements of your website match. A few colors and 2-3 fonts should do the trick.

Develop easy to use navigation.

This is perhaps the most important step. Without good navigation, visitors to your website won’t know how to get around and it will keep them from discovering more of your site. Check and double check to make sure all of your menu links go to the right pages and are easy to find and read.

Develop content.

Like everything else on your website, is important to keep your  website design content simple. Create content that will enrich your website’s visitors. In the process of creating the content for your website, you should take the time to optimize it for search engines. Search engine optimization, or SEO, helps your website get found in search results. Without it, your website’s traffic will have low numbers. It’s a good idea to plan for and start implementing SEO while you are still designing your website so as not to lose track of it later.

Lay your website out in a simple and clean manner.

Simplicity is key to designing a website. Users don’t want to be overwhelmed with crazy color schemes, outlandish patterns, and bold fonts. Lay your website design out in a consistent, linear manor that is easy to read. It is also important to make sure you do not include too many UN-optimized pictures that bog down your website’s load times and make your website compatible across browsers so every possible user can read it. There are various websites available to help you test these things.
