What's involved in getting a website up and running?

The process of creating a website can be broken down into the following categories:

  • Planning (deciding upon the content, navigation, and parameters of your website)
  • Design (creating the design and the overall 'look and feel' of your website)
  • Construction (programming the website to bring the design to life)
  • Domain Name Registration (your address on the internet. eg. www.yourbusiness.com.au)
  • Hosting of Your Website (we offer several options based on your website requirements)
  • Promotion (includes submitting your website to search engines, such as Google and Yahoo)
  • Maintenance (ongoing updates to keep your website fresh and up-to-date)

Swish Connect can work through the entire process with you. Web development is a team effort between both the client and ourselves, and with our experience, you'll find the process quick and efficient ... and of course, we always keep you updated with the progress of your project.

How much does it cost to have a website developed?

We wish we could give you a simple figure as to the cost of developing a website, but there are so many factors that it is impossible to do so. Pricing can range from a few hundred dollars for a simple website. up to tens of thousands for fully developed e-commerce solutions. Final pricing will vary depending on each project's requirements.

Some of the factors affecting the overall price of a project include:

  • Size of your site (how many pages, subsections, images, etc)
  • Design and Layout (will our graphic designers provide the 'look-feel', how complex will it be)
  • Content generation (will you provide the content such as text, images etc, or will we)
  • Dynamic elements (forms, databases, forums, etc)
  • E-commerce (are you going to sell products online, or require secure credit card processing)
  • Flash (motion graphics, video integration, animated sites)
  • Search Engine Optimisation [SEO] (optimising your website to improve your site ranking)
  • Upgrading from existing site (do we have to integrate with existing systems)
  • Hosting of your website (different plans are available depending on your requirements)
  • Domain Name Registration (do you need just a .com.au, or even a .com as well - or others)
  • Ongoing Maintenance (are we required to update content daily/monthly etc)

If you are planning to have a website created, or an existing one redeveloped, please contact our friendly sales team, or submit a form to Request a Quote.

How long does it take to build a website?

Time frames vary for website development, depending on the amount of work and elements required (as listed above). A simple, five-page website could take as little as one week to produce while larger more complex sites can take months. Average sized projects are typically finished in 4 to 8 weeks.

If required, a deadline for launch can be set, which we will guarantee, subject to receiving feedback and content from you in a timely fashion during the development process.

What types of websites can you create?

We have developed all types of sites, ranging from simple brochure-type sites to fully secure online e-commerce solutions. Please see our Portfolio for some examples.

What is e-commerce?

E-commerce is a general term for any type of business or commercial transaction that involves the transfer of information and funds across the Internet. This covers a wide range of different transactions from online sales of products and services, to online auctions.

Can you build e-commerce sites that sell products online and accept credit card payments?

Yes. We utilise the latest in internet and systems technologies to develop customised ecommerce solutions. We can even take an existing website and redevelop it to include security and e-commerce functionality, allowing you to sell you products online.

How can I promote my website?

There are many ways to promote a website, but these can be broken down into two main methods - Online Promotion and Conventional Promotion.

Online Promotion includes having a strategy to ensure your website is highly ranked on search engines such as Google and Yahoo, as well as using online communications such as having your details at the bottom of emails you send out.

Conventional Promotion is to consistently display your website domain name on all your company stationary such as letterheads, envelopes and business cards, as well as promotional material such as brochures, signs on shop fronts, and even company vehicles.
